Mike Elliot Trucking, LLC is located in Belvedere, Tennessee. In 1995, after having driven his own truck for over 30 years, owner Mike Elliot decided it was time to start his own company. He purchased a second truck, hired his first employee and the business took off.
Today, the company owns 20+ trucks, 21 flatbed trailers, 2 step decks and 2 RGNs. It even has its own on-site mechanic shop that is open 7 days week. It hauls a variety of flatbed commodities such as steel, rock, machinery and lumber.
“The best thing about Mike Elliot Trucking,” said Amy Hill, the company’s only dispatcher, “is that even though we’ve grown, it still feels like a small, hometown company. It’s like we are all a family and we have the most dedicated drivers. They pay special attention to our customers’ needs.”
One example is owner-operator Richard Fletcher. Richard regularly hauls loads of aluminum coils for TQL Logistics Account Executive Kenny. The loads can be challenging for Kenny to cover. The coils move out of Alabama and are very heavy (46-48,000 pounds). They require a special permit because they stand up on the truck bed, which puts them at a higher risk of falling off the truck while in route.
“Everyone at Mike Elliot has a great attitude and are very pleasant to work with,” said Lisa, a Logistics Coordinator on Kenny’s team here at TQL. “Richard is one of our regular drivers. He is very reliable and we never have to worry about him picking-up or delivering a load. He recently stopped by the office while passing through Cincinnati on a run."
From the sounds of it, the drivers and dispatchers at Mike Elliot enjoy working with TQL just as much.
“[TQL] gives our drivers the upmost respect,” said Amy. “Since we started hauling for them, everyone I have spoken with is respectful, honest, understanding, and caring. Kenny, Lisa, Mike and Zach have been tremendous. They really make finding and booking loads as easy as it can possibly be."
